U.S. Navy Commander Alan Ross leads a class about the levels of harmful sound to ears by using a M3 Sound Detector during Preventative Medicine Exercise 2016 at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 10, 2016. Being able to detect sound helps technicians distinguish when a situation may require hearing protection due to excessive and potentially harmful noise.
