COMBAT OUTPOST GANNON II, Iraq (July 22, 2008) – Silhouetted against the sun was just one of a few watch towers built by combat engineers at the new Combat Outpost Gannon II July 22, which overlooks the border between Iraq and Syria. Engineers spent less than a month building the new outpost, which serves to constrict incoming insurgent personnel and materials, as well as help open the local Iraqi free trade market.
