The slide hammer kit often cracks steering wheel columns and warps the steering wheel. Bemis provided the capability to mass produce Owen’s steering wheel remover tool that prevents damage to the steering wheel column during removal. Owens originally designed the tool in 2012, after cracking multiple steering wheel columns. He came up with the idea to drill three holes into a standard washer and weld a nut so that he could effectively remove a steering wheel from the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVR) and Logistics Vehicle System Replacements (LVSR).

Jim received the check for significantly improving the process of battle tracking within a Combat Operations Center by developing a comprehensive system with built-in redundancy during Exercise Steel Knight 21.

Avery received the Marine of the Quarter Award for inspiring team leaders by leading 200 inventories, 45 preventative maintenance checks, and 40 corrective maintenance actions. Avery also participated in Operation Turning Point 2021, assisting in the drilling of a 700 foot well in direct support of the United States Navy.
