Former CA Governor Pete Wilson to participate in Marine Day at Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON, Ca. - The 1st Marine Logistics Group commanding general, Maj. Gen. Vincent Coglianese, hosted a visit from the Honorable Pete Wilson, former Governor of California and United States Marine, at Camp Pendleton, Calif. 22 August 2014. Mr. Wilson spent his visit with 1st MLG Marines participating in subordinate unit training to honor his service as a former Marine and strengthen Marine Corps relationships with the local community.

Wilson, 81, participated in training at several ranges and observed demonstrations of the convoy simulator and explosive ordinance disposal capabilities. The 36th chief executive of the Golden State started his public service in 1966, when he was elected to the California Assembly. In 1971 he was elected mayor of San Diego and remained mayor until he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1982 and served until elected Governor of California in 1990 serving until 1999.
