Captain Martin Anerino hails from Baytown, Texas. Anerino's military career began when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1984. After completion of "Boot Camp" at Marine Corp Recruit Depot San Diego, CA (1985), Anerino spent the next 8 years as a Marine Infantryman (0311) at various active and reserve duty stations both stateside and overseas to include Okinawa, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Included in his assignments was duty onboard USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41) and USS SCHENECTADY (LST 1185).
After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, then Sgt Anerino used his G.I. Bill to attend the University of Houston from 1992-1994 with a major in Biology. In 1994 he was accepted into the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston, Texas where he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1998.
After graduation from dental school and Officer Indoctrination School at Newport, RI, Anerino's assignments include a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA (1999); Department Head, USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) (2000); Department Head, USS ESSEX (LHD 2) (2001); Department Head, Naval Submarine Base, Lower Annex, Bangor, WA (2003); Resident, Advanced Clinical Practice in Exodontia, Naval Dental Center, Norfolk, VA (2004); Resident, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA (2007); Division Officer Oral Surgery, Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes, IL (2008); Department Head USS OSBORNE (2010); Director of Clinical Services USS OSBORNE (2013); Clinic Director USS OSBORNE and Associate Director of Dental Services, Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center North Chicago, IL (2015). CAPT Anerino served as Executive Officer of 3D Dental Battalion/U.S. Naval Dental Center Okinawa, Japan from 12 June 2015 through 8 July 2017. CAPT Anerino assumed Command of 1st Dental Battalion, Naval Dental Center Camp Pendleton on 16 August 2017.
Captain Anerino's military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Surface Warfare Dental Corps Qualification and various unit commendations.
Captain Anerino is married to Barbara Anerino. He has two daughters, three step-sons, and two granddaughters.
