Command Philosophy
Lieutenant Colonel S.K. Lee
Commanding Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion 5

This is my guidance to you as we move forward. We, Combat Logistics Battalion 5 (CLB-5), will be a unit comprised of professionally competent, morally grounded, and physically fit Marines and sailors dedicated to mission accomplishment. We must be ready and capable to meet any challenges at any time. My command philosophy reflects what is expected of us as individual Marines and sailors, as a unit, and as the logistics component of a Marine Air Ground Task Force.
Mission Accomplishment. All that we do must be guided by our mission. Our mission requires us to have an expeditionary mindset and maintain a high state of readiness to be agile enough to respond on short notice. To accomplish this, we must be brilliant in the basics. Everything we do must contribute to our combat readiness and combat effectiveness. We will train to standards, pure and simple. We will focus on our core mission essential tasks and our training will be linked to combat preparedness and mission accomplishment.
People. We, CLB-5, take care of our own. Our Marines, sailors, and our families are the most important element in this command. Taking care of each other goes hand in hand with accomplishing the mission and is a pillar of good leadership. Leaders must know their Marines and sailors, challenge them mentally and physically, be aware of their professional and personal situation, and set the conditions for them to succeed.
Leadership. Engaged leadership must be exercised at all levels. Set the example and lead from the front. Know your job, do it to the best of your ability, always seek improvement, and teach one another. Develop your subordinates. Maintain a bias for action, be proactive not reactive, and anticipate what is ahead.
Accountability. You are responsible for your actions, thoughts, and decisions. Accountability is more than being a good steward of our finite resources. It includes all that you think, say, and do. Accountability requires the proper mindset, a sense of ownership and pride. We all must adhere to the Marine Corps standards of professionalism, discipline, and core values and hold one another to those high standards. Poor conduct, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, racist behavior, hazing, illegal drug use, prescription drug abuse, alcohol incidents, and dishonesty, adversely impacts personal and unit readiness, and will not be tolerated.
Respect. No matter what your rank is, treat everyone with dignity and respect. We are all adults, men and women who have made a choice to serve our country. There is no room for any behavior that infringes upon or takes away another's self-respect.
Take pride in what we do and always do what is right. Working together as a team, I am confident that we will be ready and capable to meet any challenges at any time.
