Lieutenant Colonel D. B. Katzman

Lieutenant Colonel Katzman is from DeWitt, MI.  He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering in Chemical Engineering.  He attended Officer Candidate School following graduation and was commissioned in August 2007. 

After attending The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman reported to Combat Logistics Regiment-17 where he assumed duties as the assistant regimental logistics officer and later the regimental logistics officer. 

In June 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 1 where he was assigned as a platoon commander.  He deployed to Afghanistan in October 2009 and while deployed was re-assigned as the assistant OIC for the partnering team assigned to train the 5th Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps.  Upon returning from deployment in April 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman was assigned as the Company Commander for Combat Logistics Company 11 located at MCAS Miramar. 

In May of 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman was assigned to Marine Wing Communications Squadron, 18 where he assumed duties as the Squadron Logistics Officer and the Headquarters and Service Company Commander.  In May 2012, he was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General of 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.  He attended the Naval Postgraduate School from June 2013 to September 2015, earning a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering.    

In October 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman checked into Marine Corps Systems Command where he was assigned as the lead engineer for the MAGTF Common Handheld Program.  Then in June 2018, he was assigned as the Logistics Officer for 7th Marine Regiment and participated in operations along the SW Border with SPMAGTF-7.  Lieutenant Colonel Katzman attended the Naval Command and Staff and Maritime Advanced Warfighting School at the Naval War College beginning in July 2020. 

After graduating both schools, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman was assigned as Plans Officer for 1st Marine Logistics Group in October 2021.  In January 2024, he was assigned as the AC/S G3 for 1st Marine Logistics Group and then in August of 2024, he was assigned as the Deputy AC/S G4 for 1st Marine Logistics Group. 

In January 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Katzman reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 5.
