First Sergeant Wunderlich enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 15 Junes 1996 and reported to boot camp at MCRD San Diego. Frist Sergeant Wunderlich graduated boot camp in September of 1996 and reported to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West where he obtained the Military Occupational Specialty 0311. Upon completion of training, PFC Wunderlich reported to the 1st Battalion 5th Marines, where he deployed with the 31st MEU in both 1997 and 1999. In June 1999, Cpl Wunderlich deployed to Indonesia in support of Operation East Timor. On 1 June 2000, Cpl Wunderlich was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps to pursue a career with the Phoenix Police department as a Police Officer.
In January 2007, Cpl Wunderlich re-enlisted into the Marine Corps as an Airframes Mechanic (MOS 6153) where he received orders in March of 2007 to HMH 462, MAG-16, 3rd MAW. In March 2007, Cpl Wunderlich attended A-School in Pensacola followed by C-school in New River, NC. Upon graduation from C-school he received orders to HMH-465, MAG-16, 3rd MAW. On January 2008, Cpl Wunderlich was promoted o the rank of Sergeant. Sgt Wunderlich earned multiple qualifications within Airframes to include Collateral Duty Inspector and / Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative. During this period, Sgt Wunderlich went to Martial Arts Center of Excellence where he earned a secondary MOS of 0916 (Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor).
In January 2009, Sgt Wunderlich was hand selected out of more than 500 sergeants as the "33rd Color Sergeant of the Marine Corps" and reported to Marine Barracks, Washington, 8th and I. During his time served at 8th and I, Sgt Wunderlich was the Platoon Sergeant for the Color Guard Section and performed more than 1000 ceremonies a year, including multiple White House ceremonies for President Obama. In July 2010, Sgt Wunderlich was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In July 2010, SSgt Wunderlich reported back to HMH-465, MAG-16, 3rd MAW where he earned his "Safe for Flight" qualification as a Maintenance Controller. SSgt Wunderlich deployed to Afghanistan with HMH-465 in support of OEF-I in January 2011. Upon his return from Afghanistan, SSgt Wunderlich received orders to HMH-361, MAG-16, 3rd MAW where he re-deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF-II in July of 2012.
In April 2013, SSgt Wunderlich reported to School of Infantry West, Combat Instructors School at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of Combat Instructors School (0913 MOS), SSgt Wunderlich reported to India Company in July 2013. During his time at MCT, he earned several awards and additional MOS's to include Combat Marksmanship Trainer, Basic Instructor, Senior Instructor, and Curriculum Developer.
In June 2014, SSgt Wunderlich has hand selected amongst 408 Combat Instructor Trainer. During his time as a Combat Instructor Trainer, he served billets as a Faculty Advisor, Academics Chief, and the first non-infantry Chief Instructor for Combat Instructor School. In January 2016, SSgt Wunderlich was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
In September 2016, after a successful special duty assignment, Gunnery Sergeant Wunderlich reported to HMHT-302 where he served in Maintenance Control as the Maintenance Control Chief while at the same time filling the collateral duties as the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant. In March 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Wunderlich took over the billet as Quality Assurance Chief.
In April 2019, First Sergeant Wunderlich was promoted to his current rank and executed orders to 2d Battalion, 2d Marines. Presently serving as the Com[any First Sergeant for Company G, where he deployed to Okinawa, Japan in support of UDP 19.2 from August 2019, to February 2020.
In June 2020, First Sergeant Wunderlich received orders to 1st Transportation Support Battalion where he is currently serving as a Company First Sergeant for Bravo Company.
First Sergeant Wunderlich is currently serving as Sergeant Major for 1st Transportation Battalion.
