Major J. D. Ross

Major Ross was born in San Antonio, TX on 19 June 1986.  He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2009.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in June of 2009.  Prior to reporting to The Basic School Major Ross was assigned to the Officer Selection Team Covington as an Assistant Officer Selection Officer.

Major Ross attended The Basic School for the Basic Officer Course with Charlie Company 03-10 from March 2010 until October 2010.  Major Ross reported to the Marine Corps Engineer School to attend Basic Combat Engineer Officer Course from October 2010 until March of 2011. 

After completion of MOS school Major Ross reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion where he served as the S4A and a Combat Engineer Platoon Commander.  In March of 2012 he deployed to Sangin Provence Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment.  Upon his return in October he served as the Assistant Operations Officer and the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Engineer Officer until April of 2014.

In April of 2014, Major Ross reported to Marine Corps Forces Central Command (FWD) in the Kingdom of Bahrain where he served as a Watch Officer.  In July of 2014 he deployed to Iraq with the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command as a Battle Captain.  Upon his return in September of 2014 he continued to serve as a Watch Officer until August of 2015. 

In August of 2015 Major Ross reported to 7th Engineer Support Battalion where he served as the Company Commander for Company B.  In November of 2016 he deployed with Task Force Al Asad to Al Asad Airbase, Iraq as the Task Force Engineer until August of 2017.  After returning, Major Ross served as the Company Commander of Bulk Fuel Company until June of 2018.  

In June of 2018 Major Ross executed orders to Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group where he served as the Logistics Combat Element Combat Engineer Lead and as a Faculty Advisor.  In November of 2019 Major Ross deployed to Kuwait to serve on the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve CJ33 staff as the Deputy Chief of Operations.  Major Ross returned in June of 2020 and executed orders to 1st Marine Logistics Group where he assumed the duties as the 1st Marine Logistics Group Engineer Officer and Future Operations Officer.  In April of 2022 he reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 13 to serve in his current billet as the Battalion Executive Officer.

Major Ross’ awards include Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (2nd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
