Master Chief 1st Medical Battalion
Command Master Chief Casey Wheeler

Command Master Chief Wheeler joined the Navy on March 19, 2001 in Wasilla, Alaska. He attended Boot Camp and Corpsman “A” School Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois and followed on to Field Medical Service School in Camp Pendleton, California.

Master Chief Wheeler’s duty stations include 3d Medical Battalion, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN, Naval Hospital Rota Spain, 2d Medical Battalion, Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, California, 1st Marine Division Detachment, Twentynine Palms, 3d Battalion Military Entrance Processing Station, Denver, Colorado, USNS MERCY, Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FOUR SIX, and currently serves as the Command Master Chief, 1st Medical Battalion.

Master Chief has deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operation Shock and Awe during the beginning of OIF and Indonesia in support of Operation Unified Assistance. While assigned to Marine Corps Military Transition Team 2-4/1, he deployed to Iraq in 2007 to 2008, where he was Combat Meritoriously Promoted to Petty Officer First Class. Upon selection to Chief Petty Officer in 2010, he deployed in support of Operation Pacific Partnership 13. Throughout 2015-2016, he deployed with 1st Marine Regiment as the Navy Senior Enlisted Advisor to Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force, Central Command.  While assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FOUR SIX he deployed on USS Nimitz for WESTPAC 2022-2023.

Master Chief Wheeler has a bachelor’s degree in history from Arizona State University. He is a graduate of the USCG CPO Academy (Team Trent), the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 211 Gold), and the Chief of the Boat/Command Master Chief Course (Class 188). He holds Fleet Marine Force, Aviation, and Surface Warfare qualifications.

His personal Awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat distinguishing device with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold Stars, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various service and campaign decorations.
