Colonel Zimmerman is a native of Colorado and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1993. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Aiken, she was commissioned a 2ndLt in December 2002.
Col Zimmerman’s service in the Fleet Marine Force include: Power Line/Jet Engine Mechanic and Plane Captain, Fixed-Wing Maine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 115 (1994-1996); Power Line/Jet Engine Mechanic, Plane Captain, and Collateral Duty Inspector, VMFA-312 (1996-1997); Maintenance Management Officer and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Officer, MWSS-172 (2003-June 2004); Support Operations Officer and Headquarters XO, Marine Wing Support Group 17 (2003-2004); Assistant Logistics Officer, 8th ESB (2005); Combat Service Support Ramadi Iraq Detachment Commander, CLB- 8 (2005-2006); Motor Transportation Platoon Commander and Engineer Support Company Commander, 8th ESB(2006-2007); Transportation Support Detachment Commander, CLB-24, 24th MEU (2007-2008); Assistant Logistics Officer, 26th MEU (2011-2014); Battalion XO, CLB-5 (2017); Logistics Officer, Task Force Al Asad (Lion) (2017- 2019); Battalion XO, CLB- 5 (2019); Commanding Officer of CLB-13, CLR-17, 1st MLG, and Assistant Chief of Staff G-9 Capabilities Integration and Force Modernization, III MEF (2024-2025). Col Zimmerman has a distinguished deployment history, including two tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2005) and Operation Inherent Resolve (2019), as well as a deployment to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom (2008).
Additionally, she was deployed with VMFA-312 on the USS Theodore Roosevelt in 1997, where she supported Operations Southern Watch and Deliberate Guard. She also participated in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts in the Philippines following Typhoon Nan Madol in 2004.
Throughout her career, Col Zimmerman has deployed with the 13th, 24th, and 26th Marine Expeditionary Units, supporting bilateral and multilateral exercises, theater security cooperation, and advising and support operations across multiple Combatant Commanders' Areas of Responsibility.
Col Zimmerman’s service includes Ground Logistics Officer, Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 (2008-2011); Joint Logistics Operation Center Operations Officer, Lead Logistics Planner East Africa, and Lead Strategic Logistics Planner, US Africa Command (2014-2017); and Logistics Section Lead and MAGTF Branch Head, MAGTF Staff Training Program (2019-2021). Col Zimmerman’s professional military education includes the Amphibious Warfare School non-resident program; Joint Professional Military Education-II at Joint Forces Staff College at Norfolk, Virginia; Marine Corps Command and Staff College nonresident program; Tactical Logistics Operations Course; Joint Maritime Prepositioning Force Staff Planning Course; Joint Logistics Course; Defense Strategy Course (Army War College), Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course-Aviation Ground Support Course and is a graduate of the Air War College.
