LtCol Nicholas Boivin was born on 14 October 1984 in Alexandria, Virginia. He commissioned in December 2009 from the Officer Candidate School and graduated from The Basic School in 2010 and Logistics Officer Course in 2011. He is a graduate of the following Marine Corps Schools: Advisor Training Group, Expeditionary Warfare School (DEP), Intermediate MAGTF Logistics Operations Course, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College (DEP) with distinction. He also holds the Regional Area Officer designations for Northeast and South Asia.
His command assignments include: Company Commander, Transportation Services Company, CLB 6, from 2014 to 2015; and Company Commander, Motor Transportation Company, MWSS-273, from 2015 to 2017.
LtCol Boivin’s staff assignments include: Adjutant, CLR 27 in 2011; Logistics Officer, H&S Company, 2d MLG (Fwd) from 2011 to 2012; Logistics Advisor, Afghan National Civil Order Police - Kandak 1, from 2012 to 2013; Executive Officer, Indo-Pacific Directorate, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, from 2017 to 2019; Operations Officer, CLB 3, from 2019 to 2021; Congressional Fellow, Office of Legislative Affairs from 2021 to 2022; Legislative Aide, DC I&L from 2023 to 2024; Strategic Engagement Deputy, Pacific Branch, DC PP&O in 2025; and, Prepositioning Section Head, Future Operations Branch, DC PP&O in 2025-2026.
LtCol Boivin assumed command of Combat Logistics Battalion 13 on June 16, 2026.
His personal decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal (with two gold stars), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy/MC Commendation Medal, the Navy/MC Achievement Medal (with gold star), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
LtCol Boivin is a graduate of the Florida State University (B.S. in Property Management), University of Oklahoma (M.A. in International Affairs), and George Mason University (Master of Public Policy).
