Colonel Mesta is a native of Denton, Texas, and graduated from the University of North Texas in 2001 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She was commissioned in 2003, completed The Basic School in 2004, and graduated from the Combat Engineer Officer Course in 2005.
As a Lieutenant, she served as Platoon Commander, Company C, 8th Engineer Support Battalion; and Executive Officer, Engineer Support Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion (FWD), deploying twice in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
As a Captain, she served as an Instructor, Staff Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer at The Basic School. Following that assignment, she served as the Engineer Company Commander at Marine Wing Support Squadron 372.
As a Major, she served as the Operations Officer for Combat Logistics Battalion 11 and deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. She was then selected as the Aide-de-Camp to the 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Robert B. Neller, followed by a joint assignment at U.S. Southern Command.
As a Lieutenant Colonel, she commanded 7th Engineer Support Battalion, attended Top-Level School, and served as the Branch Head, Senior Leader Branch at Manpower and Reserve Affairs. In July 2026, Colonel Mesta assumed command of Combat Logistics Regiment 1.
Colonel Mesta is a graduate of the Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program. She is also a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Army Engineer Captains Career Course, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, and the Marine Corps War College. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Webster University and a Master of Strategic Studies from Marine Corps University.
