Commanding Officer Combat Logistics Regiment 1
Colonel Ryan E. Scott

Colonel Scott is a native of California, living in various towns within the  northern county of Shasta until his enlistment in the Marine Corps in June of 1993.  A graduate of the California State University, Sacramento, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May of 1998.

Colonel Scott’s service in the operating forces include: Equipment Operator, Team Leader, and Squad Leader, Company B, 4th Landing Support Battalion (January 1994 – May 1998); Construction Section OIC and OIC Engineer Operations Division, MWSS-172 (Oct 1999-June 2002); Deputy Team Chief, Military Transition Team 6, Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, Battalion Logistics Officer, and Battalion Executive Officer, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (August 2005-May 2008); Brigade Platoon Commander, 5th Air and Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (June 2008-June 2009); Battalion Executive Officer, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (June 2013-July 2014); Force Engineer, I Marine Expeditionary Force (July 2014-May 2015); and Commanding Officer, 9th Engineer Support Battalion (June 2015-June 2017).  Colonel Scott deployed twice to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (January 2006 – January 2007, and August 2008 – April 2009), once to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom (August 2013-December 2013), and to over 25 countries across multiple Combatant Commanders’ Areas of Responsibility in support of combat operations, bi-lateral and multilateral exercises, theater security cooperation, and advising / support to operations.

Outside the operating forces, Colonel Scott’s service includes: Platoon Commander and OIC, Marine Guard Forces, Marine Corps Security Force Company Kings Bay (June 2002-June 2004); Platoon Commander, Company C, OCC-189, Officers Candidate School (June – August 2005); Lead Contingency Plans Officer and Deputy Chief of Plans, US MARCENT (July 2010-June 2013); Senior Marine and Administrative Aide to the Secretary of the Navy (July 2018 – June 2020); and Deputy Director, MAGTF Staff Training Program Division (July 2020-May 2021).  

Colonel Scott has attended various schools and courses, to include: Engineer Equipment Operators Course, Officers Candidate School, The Basic School, Combat Engineer Officer’s Course, Combined Humanitarian Assistant Response Course, Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty Course, the Expeditionary Warfare School, Maritime Advance Warfighting School, US Navy’s Halsey B Advance Research Program, and the US Naval War College.
