U.S. Marines with 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, along with Orange County Sheriff’s Department Hazardous Devices Section receive hands-on instruction on identifying the fragmentation of ordnance to determine the type of ordnance and how it was detonated during the Post-Blast Analysis Course at Camp Pendleton, Calif., April 10, 2018. Each type of ordnance and Improvised Explosive Device have unique properties that make them easily indefinable. This includes the materials they are made from, the way metals stretch when detonated, the discoloration caused by explosion and the size of the fragmentation. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Lance Cpl.
