A U.S. Marine with 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment contacts the combat operations center for orders during an amphibious assault while participating in Steel Knight 20 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California on Dec. 6, 2019. Steel Knight is an annual exercise that spans the western United States and California coast. It focuses on command and control capabilities, ground fires and maneuver warfare tactics, while testing Marines and sailors across a range of environments and preparing to counter aggression against a near-peer threat.
