U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Kyle R. Owens, a motor transport maintenance chief, Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, was awarded a $650 check by Brig. Gen. Bobbi Shea, Commanding General, 1st MLG, during an Innovation Awards Program ceremony on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., April 22, 2021. Owens received the check for developing a prototype and assisting with the blueprints for a 3D-printable device that removes the plastic steering wheel from a vehicle without cracking the wheel, which deadlines the vehicle, helping reduce maintenance cycle time and repair costs.
