Staff Sgt. Cedric Alderson, a 31-year-old Houston, Texas, native and staff-noncommissioned officer in charge of the receiving facility at the Supply Maintenance Unit at Camp Taqaddum, Iraq, surveys the rows upon rows of supplies and equipment stored at the SMU, Oct. 16, 2004. The SMU, part of the 1st Force Service Support Group, is a central logistical hub for the 31,000 Marines, sailors, and soldiers of the I Marine Expeditionary Force operating throughout Iraq's Al Anbar Province. The SMU's staff of 60 provide Marine units across Iraq with all the supplies and equipment they need to continue security and stabilization operations. The SMU supplied equipment and provisions to 25 units in support of Fallujah combat operations and continue to facilitate requests to provide material to help rebuild the city.
