Medical support ranging from daily sick calls for fevers to combat-related trauma such as gun shot wounds are common in a deployed environment. For Cpl. Robert E. Mcguin, a truck driver with Al Asad Surgical, 1st Marine Logistics Group here, medical support came in the form of having his appendix removed recently by one of the surgeons here. Navy Lt. Donna K. Stachowicz gives Mcguin his discharge instructions March 30, 2006 after he was cleared for release. To support the American and Iraqi service members in the area, as well as civilians in the region, Al Asad Surgical staffs both a Shock Trauma Platoon and a Forward Resuscitative Surgical Suite.
