Nationality or loyalty isn?t a factor for determining whether or not someone will receive medical care as Lieutenant Cmdr. John-Paul H. Rue, a 36-year-old native of Northfield, Minn., and Cmdr. Leslie D. Cunningham, a 42-year-old native of Olney, Md., perform surgical treatment on a wounded patient April 21, 2006 at Fallujah Surgical. The two surgeons operated on an upper extremity which was severely injured by a high velocity bullet. The staff of nurses, corpsmen, surgeons and Marines here handle the needs of both operating and emergency rooms, acting as a key link between basic medical care in the field and advanced treatment at one of three main hospitals in the region.
