On September 27, 2006 Soldiers of 82nd Medical Battalion (82nd Med) prepare a UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter of 82nd Medical Battalion to be transported back to Al Asad, Iraq after hitting a land mine on September 25, 2006. 3D MAW is currently deployed with First Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (Multi National Forces- West) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction. 060927-M-3988H-016 (U.S Marine Corps photo by Corporal Richard A Hilario)
