Sgt. Peter K. McKinney, an explosive ordnance technician with Team ?Big Deal,? 3rd Platoon, 2nd EOD Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group, investigates the wreckage of a civilian vehicle in Ferris, Iraq. The five-man team is located at Forward Operating Base Blackhawk and has an area of responsibility that covers more than 100 square kilometers south of Fallujah. They directly support about 150 Marines with Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division and respond whenever a security patrol uncovers a weapons cache, unexploded ordnance or a potential improvised explosive device. They are scheduled to return to Camp Lejeune, N.C., in March after a seven-month deployment. McKinney, 25, is from Greenwood, Ind.
