‘It looked more like a roller coaster ride in some areas,’ said Capt. Curtiss Peck of the deep ruts in the road near the village of Shir Ghazay before Marines with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) completed road improvements. The Marines spent several days improving the road as well as installing new culverts to aid in the crossing of dried river beds, or wadis.
