Cpl. Thomas Hornor, from Chicago, machine gunner for General Support Motor Transport Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), stands covered in ‘moon dust’ after sitting atop the turret of his Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle for nearly eight hours as part of a resupply mission from Camp Leatherneck to Forward Operating Base Dwyer, May 17. Hornor, 26, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and worked for the Kohler company before receiving orders to Afghanistan with the 6th Motor Transport Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, from Texarkana, Texas.
