Sgt. Michael Smith, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician and assistant team leader, 1st EOD Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), provides security prior to conducting a controlled detonation of more than 25 improvised explosive devices June 15. The IEDs were removed from the battlefield in the Sangin District in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
