Major A. B. Christman

Major Christman entered the Marine Corps from Kansas City, MO and is a graduate of the University of Kansas where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. She commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through Officer Candidates School, OCC-195, in 2007. Upon completion of The Basic School, she attended the Engineer Officer Course, where she earned the primary Military Occupational Specialty of Combat Engineer Officer.

 

In August 2008, 2ndLt Christman reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 in Okinawa, Japan where she served as the Engineer Construction Platoon Commander, Engineer Operations Company Executive Officer, and Airfield Operations Company Executive Officer and Company Commander. During this time, she served as the Detachment Commander for both “Talon Vision ‘09” in Republic of the Philippines and the “Cambodia Interoperability Program ‘09” in Cambodia. In September 2009, 1stLt Christman attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course 1-10 in Yuma, AZ and was subsequently appointed as the Aviation Combat Element Watch Officer, 3D Marine Expeditionary Brigade for “Yama Sakura ’10” in Japan and the Aviation Ground Support Watch Officer, Marine Aircraft Group 36 SPMAGTF for “Cobra Gold ‘10” in Thailand.

 

In May 2010, 1stLt Christman was selected to serve as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Aide-de-Camp. While serving as the Aide, she facilitated strategic, operational, and tactical level key leader planning events for multi-national senior leaders throughout USPACOM and USCENTOM regions and served in the ACE command element for “Ulchi Freedom Guardian ‘10” and “Key Resolve ‘11” in Korea. In March of 2011, 1stLt Christman was assigned to the J35 on JTF - Five Zero Five for Operation PACIFIC PASSAGE and supported Operation TOMODACHI planning in response to the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear crisis in Japan.

 

In July 2011, Capt Christman deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan as the Officer in Charge of Theater Route Clearance, Joint-Engineers (J-ENG), United States Forces – Afghanistan (USFOR-A), where she served the route clearance and counter improvised explosive device mission (C-IED) for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan Campaign under USCENTCOM. In 2012, she was selected for resident Expeditionary Warfare School where, upon graduation she reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion to serve as the Company Commander of Headquarters and Services Company. In 2014, Capt Christman deployed to Djibouti, Africa as the Humanitarian Assistance and Humanitarian Civic Assistance Program Manager for East Africa and the Deputy Engineer for Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa under USAFRICOM. Upon return, she served as the 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade Engineer and Assistant Operational Planning Team Leader in the Future Operations Cell for the multi-national exercise “Bold Alligator ’14 – afloat.” In November 2014, Capt Christman returned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion where she was appointed as the Company Commander of Bridge Company.

 

In 2016, Capt Christman reported to Headquarters Regiment in 2d Marine Logistics Group where she served as the Future Operations Officer and LCE Planner for “Bold Alligator ‘16,” until receiving overseas orders to 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade/Naval Amphibious Force – 515, in Bahrain. In Bahrain, Captain Christman served as the Brigade Engineer supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE in the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, and the Bab-al-Mandeb. She also deployed as a Planner for “Eager Lion ’17,” in Jordan, and as a Lead Planner and Embassy LNO for the “Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation Exercise American Embassy – Muscat, Oman ‘16” executing a Joint, Interagency, Inter-governmental, Multi-national NEO exercise out of an operating American Embassy.

 

From 2017-2019 Major Christman attended two Command and Staff College programs concurrently, the resident course at Marine Corps University (Distinguished Graduate) and the Naval War College Fleet Seminar Program earning a Master’s Degree in Military Studies and a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. In 2019, after completing these programs, Major Christman was selected for an additional advanced graduate program at the School of Advanced Warfighting where she earned a Master’s of Operational Studies and the additional MOS of MAGTF Planner. Upon graduation, she reported to Pacific Division, Department of Plans, Policies, and Operations (PP&O) at Headquarters, Marine Corps where she served as the Lead Posture Planner, until March of 2020 when she was reassigned by the Deputy Commandant of PP&O to serve as Lead Planner for the USMC COVID-19 response and the USMC COVID-19 Continuity Cross Functional Team. Subsequently, Major Christman served in War Plans Branch as the CENTCOM War Plans and Posture Officer and Service STO Planner.

 

In summer of 2021, Major Christman reported to her current assignment as the Executive Officer of the Marine Expeditionary Unit Combat Logistics Battalion 13, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Fleet Marine Force, on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.
