Second Lieutenant Thomas - He completed Logistics Officer School and was assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan in 2008. He served as the Motor Transport (MT) Platoon Commander.
First Lieutenant Thomas - He continued his 4th Marine
Regiment assignment in Japan and simultaneously served as MT Platoon Commander, Regimental Maintenance Management Officer (MMO), Base Antiterrorism Force Protection Officer, and Assistant Logistics Officer. During his first Japan tour, he deployed throughout Southeast Asia to include the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia in support of multiple theater security cooperation efforts. In 2010, he was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 1, Camp Pendleton, CA. He served as the Regimental Assistant Logistics Officer, MMO, and Logistics Officer. He completed Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School (non-resident) in 2011.
Captain Thomas - In 2011, he reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 5 and served as Maintenance Company Commander, Headquarters and Service Company Commander, and Assistant Operations Officer. In company command, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF), completing his first combat tour. In 2013, he was assigned to Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG), Fort Story, VA. He served as the Deputy Officer-In-Charge of Georgian Liaison Team 13 and Foreign Security Force Advisor to the 23d Light Infantry Battalion, Republic of Georgia Army. He deployed to the Republic of Georgia, Germany, and completed a second combat tour in Afghanistan in support of OEF. Post-deployment, he returned to MCSCG to serve as the Assistant Program Officer, Georgian Deployment Program. In 2015, he reported to the Pentagon, Washington, DC and served as the Logistics and Aerial Delivery Officer Occupational Field Sponsor, and Logistics Training and Education (LPC-3) Section Head, Headquarters Marine Corps. In 2016, he was reassigned to Special Operations Command Central, Mac Dill Air Force Base, FL. He served as the J4 Arabian Peninsula Desk Officer and deployed forward to Kuwait, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates as the Executive Officer and Operations Officer, Joint Special Operations Forces Support Detachment-Kuwait. During this assignment, he deployed to Iraq and Syria, completing a third combat tour in support of multiple combined-joint military efforts to include Operations NEW DAWN and INHERENT RESOLVE.
Major Thomas - Post-combat in 2016, he returned to the Pentagon and resumed his previous sponsorship and section head positions. In 2018, Maj Thomas reported to 3d Maintenance Battalion, Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan and served as the Battalion Executive Officer. After his battalion tour, from 2020-2021 he served as the Aide-de-Camp to the three-star Commanding General, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan. In 2022, he completed Marine Corps Command and Staff College (resident) and earned a masters degree in military studies. Later in 2022, he reported to The White House.
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas - In May 2024, he completed his most recent joint assignment at The White House as the Marine Corps Military Aide to the President of the United States. His personal decorations include: Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two bronze campaign stars, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, NATO-ISAF Medal, and he is authorized to wear gold Naval Parachutist Wings.
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas and his wife, Ana, have one son named Hensley.
