U.S. Marine Col. James R. Hensien speaks to Lt. Gen. Lewis A. Craparotta during the I Marine Expeditionary Force Large Scale Exercise 16 at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 19, 2016. Craparotta is the I MEF commanding general and Hensien is the 1st Marine Logistics Group chief of staff. LSE 16 tests I MEF’s ability to plan, deploy, and command and control a force of more than 50,000 Marines and Sailors against a near-peer enemy force. The exercise tests 1st MLG’s ability to provide sufficient, agile, flexible and responsive tactical level logistics to I MEF forces in support of operations.
