U.S. Marine combat engineers with Combat Service Support Battalion 7 lay thousands of yards of concertina wire to secure the polling site in Baghdadi, Iraq, before elections Jan. 27, 2005. Marine engineers with Charlie Co., Combat Service Support Battalion 7 fortified the polling site with several thousand yards of concertina wire, several high-powered generators, vehicle roadblocks and sturdy barriers. The election will create a 275-member National Assembly and 18 provincial legislatures. The newly elected assembly will draw up the country's permanent constitution and select a president and two deputy presidents, who will name a new prime minister and Cabinet to serve for 11 months until new elections are held.
