Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California

Jan 7, 2005

Lance Cpl. Matt Chandler, Cpl. James P. Reidy, and Sgt. Chris P. Lessard, all Marines currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, make sure everyone in the base mess hall knows who they're rooting for during Super Bowl XXXIX Feb. 7, 2005. Nearly 200 Marines filled the dining facility at Camp Taqaddum, Iraq, to watch Bill Belichick surpass Vince Lombardi as the most dominant high-stakes-game coach in NFL history. Chandler, a 27-year-old Worcester and Fall River, Mass., native, and Reidy, a 22-year-old Framingham, Mass., native, are provisional infantrymen with 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment. Lessard, a 26-year-old Belmont, Mass., native, is a machine gunner.
