Lance Cpl. Joel N. Bailey, a postal clerk with the 1st Marine Logistics Group postal distribution center, handles a package Feb 24, 2006. Bailey, 21, a native of Pleasant Grove, N.C., and his fellow postal coworkers handle thousands of pounds of mail daily while at Camp Taqaddum, Iraq. Each day, the unit will receive anywhere from 6 to 18 pallets of mail, each weighing up to 3,000 pounds. The 4,000 servicemembers of 1st Marine Logistics Group are part of the 25,000 servicemembers of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Forceâ??s forward deployed element. The 1st MLGâ??s mission is to provide sustained logistical support to I MEF and Iraqi Security Forces operating in the Al Anbar province of Iraq. First MLG will also support the development of ISF logistical capabilities in order to enable independent ISF led counter-insurgency operations.::n::::n::
