With the right tools and materials, Marine engineers such as Lance Cpl. Alexander J. Painter can build just about anything they set out to, such as a three-bay maintenance structure for the Iraqi?s 8th Motor Transportation Regiment. Pouring cement for stabilizing posts in just one of the many tasks Painter and the other engineers must complete to build the structure, which is being built to allow the mechanics to work on their vehicles sheltered from the sun, wind and dust that are all-to-common in this area, located in the northwest region of the country. The 8th MTR is training with the Military Transition Team here to improve its logistics capabilities, seeking to become an viable military unit as its country seeks a national independence.
