Arms swing in unison as the Iraqi Army?s newest soldiers march past a gallery of Iraqi and American officials during their graduation ceremony at Camp Habbaniyah Sept. 30. More than 300 soldiers went through five weeks of training to learn the fundamentals of marksmanship, urban patrols, and search and clear operations. A national recruiting initiative hopes to bring in 30,000 troops and support classes of 1,850 soldiers by May 2007, said Col. Joel P. Garland, the basic combat training liaison officer for Multi-National Force-West. The national initiative begins in October.
