Command Senior Chief Zachary D. Hough, a native of Mannford, Oklahoma, enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program in April of 1999. After attending basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Gunners Mate “A” school in Great Lakes, Illinois.
Senior Chief Hough’s first tour was onboard the USS SHILOH, at Naval Base San Diego, San Diego California. There he worked as an Armory and small arms technician, advancing to the rank of petty officer second class.
In August 2003, Senior Chief Hough reported to Master At Arms “A” School in Little Creek, Virginia. Upon completion of his “A” school he reported to the Security Detachment at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Seal Beach, California. In May 2007 he was advanced to Petty Officer First Class.
In April 2008 Senior Chief Hough attended the Military Police Investigator course at Fort Leonard Wood in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After graduating he reported to the Threat Mitigation Unit, NCIS Field Office Middle East in Manama, Bahrain. After his tour in Bahrain he reported to SEAL Team Seven as the Command Master at Arms where he made two deployments with the team. After his tour at SEAL Team Seven Senior Chief Hough reported to Naval Base Coronado, San Clemente Island Security Detachment in March 2014. In August of 2014 he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer.
Senior Chief Hough completed a tour at Coastal Riverine Group Two, Detachment Bahrain. Where he was a Mission Commander and the Departmental Chief for the Training and Weapons Department. He departed Coastal Riverine Group Two and reported to the USS LAKE ERIE as the Chief Master at Arms where he was the Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. In July 2020 he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
He reported onboard Naval Base Ventura County in May 2021 as the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Security Department. He was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in April of 2023.
Senior Chief Hough is a graduate of both the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 245 Blue) and the Command Master Chief course. His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (eight awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
