Welcome from your 1st Maintenance Battalion Chaplain, Lieutenant Carl B. Headley. I want to personally greet and engage with you about what matters to you.  I, along with my Religious Program Specialist (RP) make up the Command Religious Ministry Team (RMT).  

Your Battalion Chaplain provides Religious Services such as Spiritual Formation, 100% Confidential Counseling, Religious Accommodation, Care, and Advice support for Marines, Sailors, and the families of 1st Maintenance Battalion.

You and your families are on my mind, and in my heart and prayers. My desire for you is that you live a full, prosperous, whole, and balanced life.

BIO

LT Headley is a native of Clarendon, Jamaica.  He is an Ordained World Council of Independent Christian Churches Minister and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (1997), Master of Divinity (2009), Master of Social Work (2010) and Doctor of Divinity (2015) from Howard University, School of Divinity, Washington D.C.  He also completed the VA’s Mental Health Integration for Chaplain Services at Vanderbilt University (2021).  He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the District of Columbia, the states of Maryland, Virginia, and Georgia.

Chaplain Headley was commissioned and joined the U.S. Navy as a LT in January 2018 and received orders to the Navy Chaplain School in Newport, RI.  He reported to his first duty station at MCRD Parris Island, SC on May 04, 2018.  During this tour, his assignments included the Chaplain for 2nd Battalion, 3rd Battalion, and assisted Support Battalion MCRD, and 6th District Recruiting RR, Baton Rouge.  He attended the Prestigious National Behavioral Health and Wellness Summit, joined the leadership of the MCRD Spiritual Fitness Working Group, which developed a new 4th Phase Spiritual Fitness education module to newly minted Marines. In September 2019, the entire Depot was forced to evacuate from Parris Island, South Carolina, to Albany, Georgia, due to Hurricane Dorian, and Chaplain Headley was there to provide spiritual support.  He was selected to deploy in support of Task Force Commitment in Charleston at the Citadel and handed-picked to provide Protestant Christian service and counseling to poolees in Jacksonville during COVID-19 Quarantine, and appointed Chaplain Corps Ball Chair. Following his tour with the Marines, Chaplain Headley served as homeport shift coordinator and Command Chaplain aboard USS RUSHMORE, and FWD Deployed Sasebo, Japan, as part of C7F.  On 05 September 2023, he assumed his current position as 1st Maintenance Battalion Chaplain.

Chaplain Headley personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.
