Major Dewey was commissioned in December 2002, and following training at The Basic School (TBS) and Combat Engineer Officer Course, he reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB) at Camp Pendleton, CA in 2003. While at 1st CEB, he served as a Platoon Commander, S-3A, Aide de Camp, and Company Commander. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) as the Engineer Platoon Commander with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and as an Infantry Military Training Team Officer-In-Charge (MTT OIC) to the Republic of Georgia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
In January 2007, Major Dewey reported to The Basic School for instructor duty. While at TBS, Major Dewey served as the Engineer Instructor, Combat Engineer Platoon Commander, Staff Platoon Commander with Companies C and A, and as an Instructor Education Program instructor. Major Dewey reported to resident Expeditionary Warfare School in 2009 and graduated in May 2010.
In May 2010, Major Dewey reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), Camp Lejeune, NC and served as the Bridge Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer. He deployed in support of OEF-Afghanistan in both 2011 and 2012. Upon returning to Camp Lejeune in 2012, he was assigned as the II MEF Advisor Training Cell Deputy Director.
In May 2013, Major Dewey reported to Headquarters, Marine Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC), at Camp Smith, Hawaii. While at MARFORPAC, he served as the Engineer Plans and Operations Officer, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Aide de Camp to the Commander. Major Dewey reported to resident Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2016 and graduated in June 2017.
In July 2017, Major Dewey reported to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA. While at 7th ESB, Major Dewey served as the Battalion Operations Officer, and currently serves as the Battalion Executive Officer.
Major Dewey is married and has two children.
