Lieutenant Colonel Evan A. Day Commanding Officer 7th Engineer Support Battalion

LtCol Day is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2000 after graduating the United States Naval Academy.  He completed The Basic School and then the Combat Engineer Officer course before reporting for duty at 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, Camp Lejeune, where he served as Platoon Commander, 1st Platoon, Bravo Company.  1stLt Day also served as the Battalion Training Officer before reporting to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment.  He served as the Platoon Commander for 3rd Platoon, India Company and Company Executive Officer when the company deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in 2003.  Upon his return, he served as the Assistant Operations Officer for 2nd CEB. 

From 2004 to 2007, he next commanded 2nd Platoon, Marine Corps Security Force Company, Bangor, Washington from March 2004 until May 2007 and was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2005.  After leaving Washington, he attended Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA from 2007-2008. 

Capt Day reported for duty to 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Okinawa, Japan in June 2008 and took command of Alpha Company, deploying to Al Taqqadum, Iraq from 2008 – 2009.  He next reported for duty at Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, Cherry Point, North Carolina in May 2009 and took command of Engineer Operations Company, deploying with the squadron to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.  Upon the squadron’s return, Capt Day became the Squadron Operations Officer in October 2010 and was promoted to Major in June 2011.  The squadron deployed as the command and logistics combat elements for Special Purpose MAGTF Southern Partnership Station 2012 operating afloat from the USS Oak Hill and ashore in Panama, Colombia, Guatemala, and Honduras. 

Maj Day next completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course before serving as the Aviation Ground Support Department Head for Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, Yuma, AZ from May 2012 to June 2015.  During this time, he completed the Intermediate MAGTF Logistics Operations Course, and was a distinguished graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

In June 2015, Maj Day reported for duty as the USMC Engineer in the Logistics and Engineering (J4) Directorate, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.  He attended Joint Combined Warfare School in 2015, and completed his tour to be designated as a Joint Qualified Officer.  He was promoted to his current rank in 2017.

LtCol Day has been married to his wife Jennifer for 17 years and they have three daughters, Skye, Brynn, and Katarina.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd Award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
