Sergeant Major Patton was born at Fort Bragg North Carolina. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 11 September 1994 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.
Following graduation from recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, Sergeant Major Patton then attended initial MOS training at the Assault Amphibian Vehicle repairman school at Camp Pendleton, Ca. Sergeant Major Patton’s first fleet assignment was Ordnance Maintenance Company, 3rd FSSG Okinawa in June 1995.
In June 1996, Sergeant Major Patton was transferred to Delta Company, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served as Platoon Maintenance Chief and Platoon Sergeant. Sergeant Major Patton deployed in support of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment as an AAV Maintenance Chief to Europe, Mediterranean, and Operation Dynamic Response in Kosovo.
In January 2002 Sergeant Major Patton reported to Drill Instructor School, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. After graduation, he was assigned to Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. He also served as a Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival (MCWIS) at the Recruit Combat Training pool as a Swim Instructor.
Upon completion of Drill Instructor duty in June 2005 he was transferred to G-4, 2nd Marine Logistics Group (MLG). He served as the G-4 Ordnance Chief, Platoon Sergeant, and Company Gunnery Sergeant. Sergeant Major Patton deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After completion of his tour with G-4, 2nd MLG, Sergeant Major Patton did a lateral move to MV-22 Crew Chief.
Sergeant Major Patton was then transferred to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 (VMM-263), 2d MAW, New River, NC. In January 2008 he deployed aboard the USS Bataan with the 22 Marine Expeditionary Unit In July 2009, was reassigned to VMM-204, to be the Chief Instructor of Air Crew School.
In April 2009 Sergeant Major Patton then reported to Marine Special Operation School (MSOS), Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command. He served as the chief instructor for HSRT Master course and served as the parachute/diver/Air chief for MSOS. During that time served as in Assessment and Selection (A&S) instructor.
In April 2013 Sergeant Major Patton was frocked to First Sergeant and received orders to 1st Marine Division where he served as the Company First Sergeant of Charlie, 1st Tank Bn. Sergeant Major Patton later deployed with Charlie Company to Bahrain with Marine Air Wing Group 50. After deployment Sergeant Major Patton moved from Charlie Company to Headquarter and Service Company as the company First Sergeant.
Sergeant Major Patton PCS’ed to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division as Bravo Company First Sergeant. In November 2016, he moved from Bravo Company to Force Company as the company First Sergeant. In June 2017, Sergeant Major Patton received order 1st Marine Logistics Group for his current assignment as the Battalion Sergeant Major, Combat Logistics Battalion 7.
Sergeant Major Patton’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars.
