Colonel Nick I. Brown is a native of Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Stony Brook University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He was commissioned in 1994 and completed both the Basic School and Basic Logistics Officers Course in 1995.
Colonel Brown’s prior operational assignments include 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, where he served as the MTO and S-4A (1995-1998). From 2002-2006, he served as the G-4 Plans Officer, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Headquarters and Service Company Commander and Operations Officer, Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, and Group S3A and S4, Marine Wing Support Group 27. When assigned to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, he deployed in 2003 and 2005 in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. From 2010 to 2013, he served as the G-3, Expeditionary Operations Officer and the MEF Information Management Officer, III Marine Expeditionary Force. While assigned to III MEF, he deployed to Liberia in support of OPERATION ONWARD LIBERTY serving as the Deputy OIC and Brigade Staff Advisor to the Liberian Army. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the Commanding Officer, Marine Wing Support Squadron 172. From 2018-19, he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, 1st Marine Division.
His Supporting Establishment assignments include The Amphibious Warfare School, Quantico where he served as the head of the Administration and Support Branch (1999-2002), and the Department of Aviation, Headquarters Marine Corps where he served as the Aviation Ground Support Coordinator in the Aviation Enablers Branch (APX) from 2007-2010.
While assigned to the Joint Staff J4, Colonel Brown served as the Chief of the Global Prepositioned War Reserve Materiel Branch (2017) and J4 Deputy Director for Current Operations (2018).
Colonel Brown is a graduate of the U.S. Army Logistics Captains Career Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and the Marine Corps War College. Additional military education includes the Tactical Logistics Officers Course, Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, Marine Corps Logistics Education Program, Advanced Logistics and Technology Course, and Joint Course on Logistics; he holds a Masters of Public Administration from Central Michigan University and a Masters of Strategic Studies from MCWAR.
His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three Gold Stars, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal with one Gold Star.
He is married to the former Annesse Aytch of Newark, NJ and they have three children.
