Gunnery Sergeant Rey A. Pottin Jr. Senior Enlisted Advisor, Combat Logistics Company 16

Gunnery Sergeant Pottin was born in Laredo, Texas in 1985.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2003 and conducted Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego.  Upon completion, he reported to the School of Infantry for Marine Combat Training.  Upon completion, he reported to Fort Leonard Wood for training as a basic engineer operator. Upon graduation he reported to Camp Pendleton, Ca. 7th Engineer Support Battalion.   During his tour, he deployed three times totaling four tours to Iraq and was promoted to Lance Corporal, Corporal, and Sergeant.
 
In January of 2009, Sergeant Pottin reported to Recruiter School, MCRD San Diego.  Upon graduation, he was assigned to Recruiting Station Salt Lake City, RSS Sandy where he served as a Marine Recruiter.  Sergeant Pottin reported to Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion 12th Marines April of 2012 where he served as Engineer Chief, Platoon Sergeant, and Training NCO for Maintenance Platoon.  Upon his promotion to Staff Sergeant he was selected to become the Substance Abuse Control Officer for the Battalion.
 
In May 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Pottin was assigned as the Heavy Equipment Operations Chief and SNCOIC of Heavy Equipment Platoon for Marine Wing Support Squadron 371. During this time frame Staff Sergeant Pottin completed Career course and received his Associates degree in Supervision and Management. SSgt Pottin deployed with MWSS 371 ISO SPMAGTF 18.2 as Support Platoons SNCOIC and as SNCOIC during the last Airfield Damage Repair team.
 
In June 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Pottin was assigned to Combat Logistics Company 16 where he currently serves as the Company 1stSgt.
 
Gunnery Sergeant Pottin‘s military education includes graduating Recruit Training as Series Honor man, Basic Engineer Operator course, Sergeant’s Course, Recruiter School, Associate Degree in Supervision and Management, Career Course Seminar, and second in his class for Engineer Chief Course. Gunnery Sergeant Pottin‘s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (second award), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
