Sergeant Major 7th Engineer Support Battalion
SgtMaj Timothy Michael Riggs

Timothy M. Riggs was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio.  He enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1993, serving until 1997.  In February 2000, he entered the Marine Corps and underwent recruit training at 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.


In June 2000, Private First Class Riggs completed the Rifleman’s Course at Camp Lejeune, N.C.  He was ordered to Amphibious Reconnaissance School and attended MOS training.  Upon Graduation he was ordered to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Schwab, Okinawa, where he served as a Radio Telegraph Operator, Point-Man, Assistant Team Leader, and Team Leader.


In January 2004, Sergeant Riggs was assigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he assumed the responsibilities as Team Leader while deployed forward to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM II and in support of Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 11th Maritime Expeditionary Unit during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 5-7.


Staff Sergeant Riggs was transferred in June 2007 to U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne), Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona where he was assigned as a Military Free Fall Instructor.


In March 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Riggs was assigned to Force Reconnaissance Company, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif., for duties as the Training Chief.


In February 2011, Gunnery Sergeant Riggs transferred to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he assumed duties as Platoon Sergeant and deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 2-11.  Upon redeployment, Gunnery Sergeant Riggs served as Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant. 


1stSgt Riggs was reassigned as Company First Sergeant, Marine Special Operations Company C, First Marine Special Operations Battalion, MARSOC in May 2013 and deployed in support of Marine Special Operations Detachment Pacific 813.4.


In March 2015, 1stSgt Riggs reported to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Bangor and assumed the duties as Company First Sergeant.


1stSgt Riggs reported for duty as the Company C First Sergeant, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-West in August 2017.


Sergeant Major Riggs was assigned as the Squadron Senior Enlisted Leader at Marine Wing Support Squadron 372, Camp Pendleton, California in December 2017.


Sergeant Major Riggs is currently assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California.
