Sergeant Major F. Lopez

Sergeant Major Lopez was born November 16, 1981 in West Covina California.   He enlisted in the Marine Corps on August 1st, 2000 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California. Upon graduation he attended Marine Combat Training, Camp Pendleton, California. In December 2000, Sergeant Major Lopez reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida for Basic Helicopter Structures Mechanic and Hydraulics Training.  He then reported to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Marine Unit (CNATTMARUNIT) at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California for H-1 Helicopter Structures and Hydraulics Training.  As the Honor Graduate, He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and obtained his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 6154.

 In June 2001 Sergeant Major Lopez then reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 Airframes Division where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic. In January 2003, Sergeant Major Lopez deployed to Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM where he obtained his Collateral Duty Inspector Qualification earning the MOS of 6018. In August 2003, he then deployed Okinawa Japan in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and served as an Aircraft Mechanic. In June 2005, he deployed in support of 15th MEU and deployed again in June of 2006 to Okinawa Japan in support on the 31st MEU operations where he participated in the Philippine Mud slide aid and the Malaysian presidential elections. He participated in the following training exercises such as Weapons and Tactics Instructor, Integrated Training Exercise, and Jaded Thunder exercises conducted between Twenty Nine Palms, California and Yuma, Arizona.

In October 2008 he attended Drill Instructor School. Following the completion of DI School he reported to Company D, 1st Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD, San Diego.  He served 10 cycles as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor and acting First Sergeant for Company D. In April 2012, Sergeant Major Lopez received orders to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 as the Airframes Division Chief, deploying to Afghanistan in November 2012 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In January 2015 First Sergeant Lopez was assigned to 2nd Bn, 11th Marines where he deployed in support of the 31st MEU BLT 1/5. In February 2017 Sergeant Major Lopez received orders to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion where he currently serves as the Company First Sergeant for Company E. In November 2019 Sergeant Major Lopez was promoted to his current rank and assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 1. Sergeant Major Lopez’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
